I never had gas heat. My oven salvation through this cycle – is the lighting of the oven heats up 20 seconds or so, the fan kicks, and the house heats up quickly and beautifully. Then you click away. Five seconds after the fan again in five seconds and then disappear. He does it every time. That’s how it works? If so, why?

Jul 29, 10 at 12:51 amThere’s usually an adjustable setting for the temperature the blower kicks on at. Sounds like yours may be set too low.
The part of the heat exchanger where the sensor is located is probably being heated by the rest of it when the blower stops blowing cooler air on the part where the sensor’s located.

Jul 29, 10 at 1:19 amNo it shouldn’t do that. The blower off time delay should be adjusted on the furnace control board. The control board has a built in timer that shuts the fan off. If it shuts off too fast the heat left over in the furnace can cause it to come back on. On older furnaces there is a temperature switch that does it. If your furnace is older, then the temperaure switch can be adjusted. For more info, check out the furnace page at
