Mar 06, 10 at 11:06 pmIf you’re in the market for an entry level ($ 120 or less), gas-powered string trimmer, the Troy Bilt TB20CS must be at the top of the list.
After much research, I chose this point above all others. My reasoning is as follows:
1). TB20CS receives the most votes 4 and 5 star special pieces “entry level”, is here as well as other review sites.
2). Has an engine of 31 cc, compared with 25 DC motors found on many of the trimmer competitive. E ‘22% of the capacity of more power.
3). Uses. 095 line trimmer, which takes a beating heavier fine wire, in some of the competition.
4). This child has a hook. Some of the competition does not worry about this, I’d rather cut my line seems to stop when I feather the throttle back to minimum.
5). I like the tree of Split, which allows me to use other tools.
6). Standard dual line bump head spool provides twice the cutting action, as some competitors’ single line.
7). It includes the coil Speed Lock set for no additional cost.
8). Price: $ 99. 96 to Lowes. $ 99 in Troy. com, but be careful with the shipping costs.
A special note for those using the 2-stroke engine powered tool:
You will notice a lot of folk downgrade these products because both had a bad or poor handling at high speed. I think these people have failed to follow one or more guidelines for the use of 2 cycle equipment:
A). Follow the procedure recommended by the manufacturer to start. They are more familiar with their product. ALWAYS keep the throttle open 1 / 4 of the road when you use half and full choke.
B). Never use the old gas. That stuff is mixed last year, will give you big problems this year. My rule is to replace the gas when you are going to be 3 months (with or without a stabilizer of gas).
C). Always mix the oil and gas to the manufacturer’s specifications. If prompted, not 40:1, 30:1 mix. This will lead to start running as well as problems.
D). When you end a session, pour the gas from the rear trimmer in the cylinder of gas. Start trimmer and run ‘is dry.
I spent my TB20CS for an hour today with good results. Never run the engine at above 50% cut grass accelerator 18-24 inches. Was to break the line only three times during the hours after beating something really great in the grass. That. 095 strings zipped through some heavy branches and cactus without breaking.
My only downside is that my arm began to long for this now. But then again, that TB20CS not a lightweight. A sling may be in order if I’m going to use extended.
GO FOR IT!

Mar 07, 10 at 1:54 amWhen my old trimmer finally released after 17 years of perfect service, I decided to buy another, as if instead of repairing it. The old brand has changed and this is as close as I could get my “old friend”. I could not be happier! It ‘very similar to my old, but starting even easier. All my old attach fits and works perfectly. I am very happy with this trimmer and recommend it to everyone.

Mar 07, 10 at 2:32 amI had this trimmer for about 18 MOS. now and have just purchased the edger attachment. It made me think that perhaps trimmer might die on me after a year. Because the reliability I decided to throw down $ 70 dollars for the edger attachment and I also doubly happy! My El Toro lawn was about 5 years the growth board. The trimmer was a sort of hard time at first, but was understandable. The lawn looks great and now I would recommend this trimmer to anyone looking for value and convenience. I will definitely buy again!

Mar 07, 10 at 2:56 amAfter looking at several gas powered trimmers all prices over $ 100, I was a bit ‘hesitant considering the price, but in general has been a great product. A premium is the edger can be purchased as an attachment, saving the cost of purchasing a separate edger.

Mar 07, 10 at 5:03 amEasy to assemble. Great for cutting down the fences. Not so great for the board, without an optional attachment. A good value for money.
